The BKV Potsdam e.V. was established 1992 and is situated right in the centre of Potsdam's historic old town. The Kunstverein understands itself as a platform and laboratory for exceptional artistic expositions.

Its task is to introduce new ideas, innovative projects and promising international artists to the Potsdam and Berlin public. At the same time the curator program makes reference to the architectural and historic peculiarities of Potsdam. The acclaimed exhibitions include the first large German retrospective on Martin Kippenberger and a long-term project of a series on the subject of art and science.
