The Welcome Center Potsdam is the central consultation and service point for international scientists visiting the city. It has two offices: one is located on the campus of the University of Potsdam and one at the Citizens' Service Office in Potsdam.

The office at the University provides individual support and advice to visiting scholars as well as their hosts regarding the planning and realization of a research visit. It helps visiting scientists and their families to find a place to live, and it assists them with the necessary formalities related to their stay. The Welcome Center also helps to find adequate education opportunities and leisure activities, it facilitates the contact with other visiting scientists, and offers a broad variety of information material.

The Welcome Center office at the Citizens' Service Office (Friedrich-Ebert-Str. 87, 14469 Potsdam, 0331-2891731) is a place where visiting scientists can carry out all official formalities (registration, income tax card, legal matters concerning foreign residents). Advice is given in English. An appointment should be made beforehand.
